Ultrasounds

Ultrasounds use sound waves to create images of your baby, allowing us to monitor growth, development, and overall health. We offer both 3D and 4D ultrasounds, which provide detailed images and moving visuals, so you can see your baby’s features and movements. These scans help detect any abnormalities and check vital aspects like heartbeat, position, and fluid levels. Plus, they’re a special opportunity for you and your family to bond with your baby before birth.

Labor & Delivery

When it’s time for your baby’s arrival, we’ll be by your side to manage every stage of labor and delivery. We help manage labor with various options tailored to your needs, including pain relief methods like epidurals or natural alternatives. Whether you have a vaginal birth or need a cesarean section, we ensure the safest experience for you and your baby. We are also equipped to handle high-risk deliveries, so you can rest assured you are in capable hands.

Vaginal Delivery

If you’re planning a vaginal delivery, we’ll guide you through every step of the process. Dr. Almonte and Dr. Delgado have hospital privileges at DHR Health Women’s Hospital in Edinburg, TX—the first and only Level IV Maternal Facility in the Rio Grande Valley—offering the highest level of care for even the most complex deliveries. Our team supports you with continuous monitoring, pain management, and expert care to ensure a positive birth experience.

Postpartum Care

Care doesn’t stop after your baby is born. Our postpartum care focuses on your physical and emotional recovery. We schedule follow-up visits to check how your body is healing, monitor for conditions like postpartum depression, and offer guidance on breastfeeding and newborn care. We’re always available to answer your questions, address any concerns, and provide the support you need during this important adjustment period.

Obstetrics FAQs

How Often Should I Schedule Prenatal Visits?

Prenatal visit frequency depends on how far along you are and your overall health. Typically, we recommend visits once a month during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy, every two weeks from weeks 28 to 36, and weekly after 36 weeks until delivery. If you have a high-risk pregnancy or specific health concerns, Dr. Almonte or Dr. Delgado may schedule more frequent visits.

Can I Create a Birth Plan?

Absolutely! We encourage you to create a birth plan to outline your preferences for pain management, delivery methods, and newborn care. Dr. Almonte and Dr. Delgado will review your plan with you, ensuring it aligns with both your wishes and medical best practices.

How Long Does Recovery Take After Delivery?

Recovery depends on whether you had a vaginal delivery or cesarean section. For vaginal births, most patients start feeling better within a few weeks, but full recovery can take up to six weeks. C-section recovery generally takes a bit longer, typically six to eight weeks.

What Support Is Available After My Baby Is Born?

Our care doesn’t end with delivery. We offer postpartum checkups, breastfeeding support, mental health screenings, and guidance for any concerns you may have. We ensure you feel supported as you adjust to life with your new baby.

When Can I Find Out My Baby’s Gender?

Many patients look forward to learning their baby’s gender. This is usually possible during the anatomy ultrasound around 18 to 20 weeks of pregnancy. If you prefer, we can also offer earlier detection through certain blood tests as early as 10 weeks.

What Should I Expect During Labor and Delivery?

Every labor experience is unique, but you can expect continuous monitoring, support from our medical team, and various pain relief options, including epidurals, medications, and natural methods. We’ll keep you informed about your progress, guide you through pushing, and assist in the safest delivery possible—whether vaginal or cesarean.
